Match vs Shirley Park (away) 25th April 2024

This was our first ever match with our new friends at Shirley Park. During the initial negotiations both clubs laid out their requirements which is normal when feeling your way for the first time with a new club. Unusually we were asked if we could field an 18 man team. Closer to match time it seemed less and less possible but we all pulled together and managed 16 players, Reg playing for me (Mike), so…

The Hector Fudge Trophy 19th April 2024

The Hector Fudge Trophy is a completion for the four Coulsdon Club  to compete against each other every year. This year it took place on 19th April. Generally the four members are from the committees of each club and is organised by the ladies team. This year it took some time to get the teams together and there was fear that it might be cancelled but with a lot of rallying from all the match…

Match Vs Wimbledon Ageless Golf Section 12th April 2024

We had a slightly later Tee than usual as rush hour travelling is a bit of a problem. However all work well and after a refreshing coffee and a bacon roll we rolled out to the first tee lead by the captains. Being on home ground was an advantage but unfortunate Wimbledon found their way and gained the upper hand with some very good golf. Although we lost the scores were incredible close and the…

Match with Coulsdon Ladies 25th March 24

The annual match with the Ladies was organised and run by the Ladies Section and was played a bit differently this year, but as usual, the fine trophy awaited the outcome of the winning section. Five matches were played with some dubious looking ladies on the ladies team, testing was not on hand so the competition went ahead. Thankfully, a strict dress code by the Ladies Captain was not enforced, despite the Vets Captain asking if he…

AGM – 10th January 2024

This year’s AGM launched the Club’s 75th anniversary year.  We learnt that members’ communication via text, WhatsApp,  email, phone and ‘HowdidIdo’ was improved with few issues. The finances were in a very good shape such that we could keep last year’s membership fee whilst allocating £1500 to the 75th Anniversary events. The 7 home and 7 away matches played with outside clubs was higher than ever before with great fun and enjoyment and mixed results.  Seven new members…

Christmas Lunch

The annual Christmas lunch – 11th December 2023 Once again the Christmas dinner was well organised and attracted some 35 plus members all hosted by Bruce. Fun and games were on the menu as well as a well earned trophy for Roy Misra. The best jumper was won by the well deserving of Roger Lewis and the silly hat by myself!! Fiddle I hear some shouting. Following the dinner was a comedian and the opportunity…

Match vs Wimbledon Ageless Golf Section 3rd October

This was the last match for 2023 and the furthest away. Traffic delayed some of our team but our hosts graciously delayed the start and eventually we teed off around 9 a.m. With only 10 men, Reg and Mac played 3 ball with two opponents each! The course was great and the WAGS team were the perfect hosts. We all played as best as possible but unfortunately it was a overwhelming loss being beaten 6-0. …
