This was our first ever match with our new friends at Shirley Park. During the initial negotiations both clubs laid out their requirements which is normal when feeling your way for the first time with a new club. Unusually we were asked if we could field an 18 man team. Closer to match time it seemed less and less possible but we all pulled together and managed 16 players, Reg playing for me (Mike), so it was all systems go.
We met in their club house for coffee and introductions by our Vice Captain Roger and the teams went out to the start which was split over two tees The course was in magnificent condition and enjoyed by us all. Shirley Park were very helpfully and kept us informed at all times.
Back to the club house for well deserved drinks and food and of course the results.
I think we will always remember that on a new course with new friends we managed to pull off a draw a result that we should all be proud of.
