This year’s AGM launched the Club’s 75th anniversary year. We learnt that members’ communication via text, WhatsApp, email, phone and ‘HowdidIdo’ was improved with few issues. The finances were in a very good shape such that we could keep last year’s membership fee whilst allocating £1500 to the 75th Anniversary events. The 7 home and 7 away matches played with outside clubs was higher than ever before with great fun and enjoyment and mixed results.
Seven new members had joined us in 2023 and they had already made a significant contribution to the club. Our handicap committee proposed changes to the number and timing of the competitions schedule were fully accepted bringing improvement to our programme. The relationship with the other Coulsdon clubs and the hotel were very good and we maintained a close constructive contact with the Pro Shop and greenkeepers.
The outgoing captain reported an excellent £5451 raised for the MacMillan Charity who were present to offer their deepest thanks. The incoming captain will raise funds for ‘Club Soda’, a local charity for enhancing the livelihood of many local disadvantaged individuals. The representatives at the meeting expressed their most sincere appreciation.
To conclude the camaraderie, positivity and togetherness of committee and club members was acknowledged as a cornerstone of making CCVGC the club it is today.
