It was a cold start to our annual match for the Lightbody Trophy with the Coulsdon Ladies. 4 teams, 2 ladies and 2 gents, set off under cloudy conditions to win the wine, and of course the silver salver. The day started well with a good team to challenge our hosts. The Mitcham Golf Club grounds men had done their job and the course was in very good shape. The greens in particular were stunning and it took us a while to adjust to their smooth, flat, bump free finish. As the day went on the weather got better and it would appear, so did the golf. The first match of the season and it rained! It was however good to see our new friends from Wimbledon in their bright red attire. They came with fire in their bellies after losing their first two matches. We, unfortunately could not muster a full team, and with two men down, they sensed victory and were formidable.
