I was delighted to have been asked to be this year’s captain but am well aware of the honour and responsibility that this brings. Since becoming a member, I have been struck by the care and support that members show for one another on and off the course and this is something that I wish to encourage
I will be 70 in April (difficult to believe I know) and have been playing golf around 6 years. My children bought me 4 golf lessons as they were worried that I would be bored in retirement and 10 minutes into the first lesson I was hooked. Ruth is extremely happy that I have a hobby that keeps me out of the house so much!
I am a season ticket holder at Tottenham and like my golf there are a lot more bad moments than good ones. I am also a keen parkrunner and travel here, there and everywhere feeding my parkrun addiction on a Saturday morning. Currently an active football referee and am often seen waving my flag on the Combined Counties League and blowing my whistle on youth league football
St Christopher’s Hospice is my charity of choice this year. Sadly, Ruth’s father passed away in 2024 after a long battle with prostate cancer that led to other complications. Although he never stayed at the hospice, they were excellent in providing care and support for both him and for Ruth in the last year of his life. Anything that you can donate to my charity this year will be gratefully received and will enable the hospice to continue to provide for others in their time of need
